How to Bring Your Space to Life with Livin’Art!

One thing I hear a lot in my line of work is “I think I want a mural, but I don’t even know where I would start or how to go about it.” So, I wanted to give some insight into how my process works, because it is a little bit different than some other mural artists! Here is what, exactly, to expect and how I go about my murals!

Step 1: Explore My Work

First things first, take a look through my website! It's essential to ensure you like my painting style and personality. We want to make sure we’re a good fit together—only good vibes allowed here!

Step 2: Reach Out

Once you’re hooked, get in touch with me through phone, text, email, or by filling out the contact form on my website. I’m excited to hear from you!

Step 3: Initial Discussions

We’ll set up a time for a phone call or an in-person meeting. This is where we’ll talk about you, your passions, and what you envision for the mural. I'll check out the space, decide on the best placement, and take measurements. If we’re chatting over the phone, you’ll need to send me clear pictures and measurements of the walls.

Step 4: Mood board & Inspiration

Here’s where you have a bit of homework. I’ll ask you to gather some inspiration pictures online that reflect what you’re looking for (it doesn't have to be exact). I’ll do the same, and we’ll exchange ideas, narrowing them down until we have a clear vision. We typically use a shared Pinterest board, but email or text threads work just as well.

Step 5: Price, Timeline, and Contract Discussions

With all the details in hand, I’ll provide an exact quote. Pricing is based on square footage and design complexity, ranging from $10-$40 per sqft. Additional factors include large equipment needs, wall texture, working timeline, wall preparation, and any last-minute changes. We’ll discuss the contract, timeline, and payment structure. If everything sounds good, you’ll sign the contract and put down a non-refundable $100 deposit to secure your spot and kickstart the design process. This deposit will be deducted from the total mural cost.

Step 6: Design and Mockups

I’ll send over 1-3 design options. Be honest about what you like and don’t like—your feedback is crucial! Unlike many artists, I don’t charge extra for design changes. We’ll go through as many revisions as needed until the design is perfect. By the end of this step, you’ll know exactly what will be on your wall, and you’ll be excited to see it come to life!

Step 7: Deposit for Materials

Upon approval of the design, you’ll pay half of the total cost upfront to cover necessary materials before I start painting.

Step 8: Painting Begins

This is the fun part! Depending on the project size, painting can take anywhere from one day to three weeks. You’ll get to watch the transformation as your wall comes to life—or keep it a surprise if you prefer!

Step 9: Final Approval and Payment

Once the mural is complete, you’ll give your final approval and make the remaining payment.

Step 10: Show It Off!

Congratulations! You now have a unique, custom mural that no one else in the world has. Admire it, share it on social media, or enjoy it privately—it’s yours to cherish!

Hopefully this insight into the process was helpful for anyone thinking about a mural! I'm ready whenever you are to bring your space to life! Let’s create something amazing together!
